Yesterday evening, just as we were booting down, the night guard called us outside – he doesn’t speak a lot of English and our Chichewa isn’t that crash hot so its always a bit hit and miss having a conversation with him but this time it didn’t really matter all became clear very quickly! He took us round the side of the house and pointed his panga at something lying in the drain – a headless snake! Exciting, if not a little scary…
We tried to establish we’re he’d found it hiding but from the vague waving and lack of proper communication it could have been anywhere really. I guess the grass round the edge of the veggie patch behind the long drop is the most likely spot, its all pretty long now since all the rain.
We weren’t sure if it was a dangerous, poisonous one - Fly the other guard says not but I won’t be tripping about without checking twice where I’m treading for a while.
Here it is, poor headless creature…
