We got back to Blantyre in good time for us to make the journey home to Malamulo and for Kim to get back to wear she lives, in Muona, but we had a bit of a false start! We loaded the car, got in, switched on…..and nothing happened….Baby Beast’s battery was buggered! We couldn’t work out why for a second, but then realised that the inside light must have been on all weekend. Pants.
Luckily, we got some free jump leads when we bought the car so whipped them out but then realised that neither of us really knew what to do next. We thought Antonio’s next door neighbour might be able to help, so once Kim had manoeuvred Beauty into the right spot, we connected red to red and black to black and hoped for the best! We weren’t sure how long you had to leave them running so after a bit of ummm-ing nad aahhh-ing and crossing of fingers Kim switched off Beauty, we unhooked the leads, and Ali fired up the Beast! He roared into life, we all danced about and heaved sighs of relief – thank goodness – wasn’t quite sure what we’d have done if we’d buggered that one up. He made it home and has been going fine since….
