We went to the 1st years’ Dedication Ceremony - they were all dressed up in their uniforms for the first time and looked so smart. Like a kiddies first day at school… It was pretty long service but it was nice, held in the local church, with all the school children there too. The singing was beautiful as well. We weren’t quite prepared for it, but we were part of the ceremony too – we had to pin their badges on their fronts, fix their caps on their heads, shake hands, murmur a quick congratulations and then they disappeared back to their seats.
We sang the nurse’s song and then they heard the meaning of the lamp. Their candles we lit and then Ali led them in the nurse’s pledge…all very sweet.
