Just when things get going….

…the power goes off, again! I have no idea why I actually pay my electricity bills as ESCOM is rubbish – and, you’ll never guess what their slogan is? ‘Power all day, everyday’.

So, being unable to do any computer work, I walked round the office offering to help with filing, sorting and organising of the mess that most people run their offices in. Unsurprisingly, no one was terribly interested in doing anything other than reading the paper, going for lunch early or generally having long loud debates about all sort of things but I did find one job to do – indexing the nurse student applications – which involved putting them in alphabetical order, checking their exam results and then preparing them for someone else to allocate the numbers (I was not to be trusted with that job apparently!) It would have been incredibly dull had it not been for the amazing names that some people have. My favourites were:

Devillious Gezzah (? A God-fearing man?)
Sennyorita Kamwendo (spanish influence there maybe?)
Spicey Chingwe (literally, spicy piece of string!)
Garbet Thyangathyanga (eh?)
Beauty Kapalamula (beauty, who blunders from time to time)

There were also a fair few Gertrudes, a Maud, a Flossy and some Blessings.
