Hardwick is fast becoming a favourite…he works so damn hard for not very much and I’ve been very unsure how to help as I don’t want to cause trouble with the Landlord by giving him extra money to see him through. I buy food and soap and other stuff so he doesn’t have to spend his wages but I know what he really wants is to leave and try his luck elsewhere but he is stuck where he is.
The other day he came to me with a letter, in his beautiful perfect handwriting, that he wanted me to type out for him to make it ‘official’. As I typed I felt so sad for him…will they really take him back after 20 years? Will they be the solution to his problem? See what you think.
My name is Hadwick Bester Ephraim of Lilongwe, Malawi – former employee. With the above headline, I want to make a request for ‘reinstatement to work’ individually.
I have even worked for the Gold Mine Company for 12 years since 1977 up to 1988, when I was on leave and later in 1989 when it was announced to permanent closure to international contracts. I should admit any changes that may have occurred during this period of international closure of contract. I should also state that I am ready to present myself there according to the best of your arrangement and judgement whether you will arrange means of transport for me or I arrange it myself.
I trust that you will table my request to the best of your consideration judgement of your administration.
I remain waiting to hear from your office anytime that may suit you.
I am your faithfully,
Hadwick.
He apparently worked in administration, no doubt where his amazing handwriting comes from. Now he opens the gate, empties rubbish, sweeps the dusty ground and waters veggies for £12/month. Its not fair. I hate it.

There are so many people underemployed for their capabilities! And his language is so formal and beautiful too.
