A recent mystery has been solved.
While on holiday the car started feeling and smelling a bit hot, we checked under the bonnet several times but didn’t see anything too worrying – a man at a garage said the coolant might be a bit low but it was actually fine along with the oil, water and other bits. Once back home NooNoo did another check and was a little surprised to find a baked potato sitting on top of the engine, gnawed all round and accompanied by a little pile of droppings. How could we have possibly missed seeing that before?
A friend checked all the wiring for teethmarks but pronounced everything ok and we couldn’t see any further evidence of livestock. I’ve been driving about somewhat cautiously however since then, nostrils flaring every now and then, on guard for more suspicious smells.
Today there was definitely something amiss, the clutch felt odd and there was a faint pong so I whipped over to the GarageMan who took us for a little drive about to assess the problem. Couple of hours later I went back to hear the verdict – not a huge problem luckily - rather the revolting remains of a roasted rat had had to be scraped off the inside of the engine. Apparently it’s a big problem, I was lucky though, a rodents in your air vents are a whole lot worse.
