The elections are over and Mr Bingu is back in for another 5 years. It was all a bit of a non-event in the end after the endless security briefings and warnings we got to stay at home and not get involved, in fact the only drama that occurred was when a swarm of bees flew into a polling station to have their say and disrupted the finger printing process!!
Only about 4 million out of the 14 in the country actually voted though so I wonder how true a picture of it all it really is? There was a lot of murmured chat about not really having a proper choice since the coalition between the other two parties had difficulties in choosing someone to stand so their campaigning was a little restricted. Many others felt that they had to choose the best of uncertain bunch so used their vote to try and stop things getting any worse…
It seems though that Bingu’s party has edged itself in a much better position than before and people are generally quite happy with the MPs that are in as. Everyone is now keeping fingers crossed that they do job without too many disappointments - though politicians never really seem to deliver what was promised though do they? (Probably too busy playing with their expenses claims and decorating their second homes to do any proper work!)
So, apart from a few ladies still wandering about with bright blue chitenjies with Bingu’s face plastered across their butts (and its none too pretty is it!) - its all back to normal!
