We’re getting a lot of power cuts and no water so we got ourselves one of those camping water sack thingys and a everso clever gel burner cooker. I had no trouble figuring out how to fill the water container but nearly blew myself up with the cooker – I thought it’d be safer than a paraffin stove but I think I was wrong.
I set the whole thing up, poured in the gloopy green gel, stirred it with the integral snuffer stirrer and then lit a match…well, there was a big blue flash, a whumphh and then a smell of burning hair!
No great damage done and luckily the power came back on so I’ll have to experiment again another time – maybe with Ali supervising!
