Happy Feet!

These are my feet after a happy, grubby day in Majete - a game park in the South of the Country where we went on Sunday. Didn't see many animals but had a marvellous time doing some off-road driving. Had a few hairy moments, one early on when I drove us down a little track to what we thought was a look out point but turned out to be boggy grassy nothingness. With no room to turn round, I had to reverse back up the road, but as anyone who has been driving with me knows my trouble with left and rights, i just couldn't work out which way to turn the steering wheel to get backwards round the corner!! The backseat drivers (who were actually very back seat seeing as they were perched in the back of the pick-up) were everso helpful and I repaid them by kindly scooting them all into the spiky bushes more than once! The next drama was after lunch (which we had with a lovely pod of hippo down by the river!) Kim was in charge and was happily pootling along until we hit a very, very steep bit of road into a river bed with little dribble of water in the bottom but lots of wet sand. She was having a few heebie jeebies about whether we should give it a go or not so Antonio jumped down from the car and checked it out. It seemed ok so with a deep breath and a bit of a run up she went for it, splashed through the water and up the other side - but not far enough we discovered! We were so busy congratulating her and letting our blood pressures settle that we didn't realise how soft the sand really was so when she tried to start driving again, we just sunk in further!! So, we all hopped out and with much huffing and puffing, pushed The Beast out and onto a more grassy, firm patch, and with that Kim took off with clouds of dust!
