Return to the Mothership

The students have been allowed back to school. All the nonsense about having to re-apply didn’t happen (too much paperwork I suppose!). They just had to bring a letter saying how sorry they were and that they wouldn’t do it again.

So, the first years are back on the wards and generally they’re making a pretty good job of it, most of the time. Ali and I nearly burst ourselves trying not to laugh the other day though when one of them trotted off to theatre to collect a patient, brought him back to the ward and settled him in ‘ICU’…only trouble was that that patient hadn’t had his operation yet, he was waiting to go in!

I really hope my expectations don’t stay down at the depths they have plummeted to because some of the students will make good nurses if only they got the teaching and supervision they are meant to have…8 months and we still haven’t seen our fellow tutors do more than sharpen their pencils!
